Zazzle Design Blog Post: Dark and Gothic Yin Yang Vampire Skull Logo
The inspiration behind this design is of course the well known Chinese symbol of balance or dualism representing two opposing forces of nature, the divine and demonic, male and female or even the cycle of life death and rebirth.
My interpretation is more along the latter utilizing aspects of death, horror and the macabre.
in place of the traditional curved teardrop shape, I opted for something more along the lines of the dark and gothic two give a new interesting take on the traditional design reimagining the shape as two intertwined vampiric skulls.
This was a lot trickier than originally thought as the two skulls would of course have to be their respective shades of black and white with the opposing shades dot located somewhere within but also outlined to highlight and better frame the design overall.
To complicate matters further the design also needed to work on both a white and black background as well as having variations of the outline as you can see in the examples to the left.

I created two variations, one that had its outer tendril-like border conform to the black skull and the other would match the white skull this would allow the customer to potentially chose between a few different design choices as well as having the ability to flip the design in there desired direction using Zazzles inbuilt editing software.
Now that both black and white compatible designs are completed I can now begin uploading to Zazzle and begin designing products utilising these design variations.
As the designs work on both black and white backdrops this increases the variations I can offer the customer and the range of products I can apply the design too.

As you can see due to the designs circular logo like shape it is very versatile and can be applied to almost any product with great ease.
The design can be further enhanced by combining with FX-based images such as smokey wisps and fading gradations of black or white.
